VOCATIONAL TRAINING & JOB PLACEMENT OF THE IDPs

UBA-MARYLAND USA BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF WORK AND THE POTENTIAL OF YOUNG PEOPLE TO REDUCE POVERTY

Unfortunately, too many young people want to work but lack the education, skills, and confidence they need to get and keep a job. Unless someone gives them a chance, they will remain trapped in a cycle of poverty.

UBA –MARYLAND USA is asking for your support to break the cycle of poverty for young people. There are 2.6 million young people ages 16-24 who are neither in school nor at work. These disconnected youth are sometimes referred to as Opportunity Youth and, if they are not connected to a career pathway by age 25 they will likely face a lifetime of struggle with a high risk of unemployment, poverty, and homelessness. Most especially in Cameroon where youths are faced with trauma from the ongoing armed conflicts in the country.

UBA-MARYLAND USA provides vocational training in several fields of work (Mechanical Engineering, computer Technology, fashion design, building & construction, carpentry, driving, hair dressing, hair barbing, bakery, decorations, event planning and much more) to make sure the youths are able to earn a paycheck, learn to manage their money, and gain essential skills like responsibility, teamwork, and how to communicate in the workplace. Ultimately, we connect them to their next job and set them on a path to a career.
